Hi guys! My name is Ruby.
Before taking this course, I was scheduled to take another class called “Digital Media and Design” which entails the same material as this course. Due to some minor complications, many students had to change their schedule, resulting in that class being removed. That said, I wasn't initially inspired to take this class nor was I expecting to make short films or write blogs. However, despite all the last-minute changes, I am walking into this course with high expectations of passing the final exam while also developing skills that will further my knowledge of making films. Ironically, I do make videos, but none that are like short films. Usually, I make TikTok videos which don't require much work or the use of editing. Therefore, all of this will be a new concept to me which is quite scary but also thrilling.
One of our main Cambridge assignments will be to conduct a two-minute video project. That said, I hope to learn how to properly angle a camera to capture the true essence of a scene allowing viewers to feel as though they are part of the moment. Along with that, I would like to work with some editing tools prior to making the video to get some firsthand experience of what's to come when the video is ready to be edited. Working on this project with me will be my peers Krystal and Anairis. The end goal would be to work effectively amongst each other while openly and respectfully communicating our ideas to ultimately create a video that will receive as many points as possible. Initially, when my teacher first presented the idea of making a video I was taken back and honestly nervous to step out of my comfort zone being I've never done a project like this before. However, after further discussion I was open minded and became more comfortable with the task up ahead.
Regarding media production, I've always been intrigued with the idea of filming a movie and the different types of production that goes on backstage. Overall, although I wasn't initially expected to take this course, I'm ecstatic to be able to expand my knowledge and expertise on media production and the different ways it pertains to my daily life.
